Vivio's Detroit

Vivio's Detroit is a legendary bar and grill located in the heart of Detroit's historic Eastern Market at 2460 Market Street. Founded in 1967 by John and Shirley Vivio, this family-owned establishment operates in the iconic Meyfarth's Hall building, constructed in 1892, making it one of the oldest continuous bar spaces in the entire city. The venue originally served Detroit's German community with a bar on the first floor, a social hall on the second floor, and the Meyfarth family residence on the third floor. Vivio's earned its fame through its legendary bloody mary, voted best year after year by loyal customers. Despite a devastating fire in 1975 that destroyed the original establishment, the Vivio family rebuilt and continued their tradition of excellent food, drinks, and outstanding service. The bar has expanded over the decades, adding a dining room and second-floor seating, while maintaining its authentic neighborhood character. Today, the third generation of the Vivio family operates the establishment, with great-grandchildren already in training to carry on the legacy.
