About
Switzerland Cafe has been a beloved fixture along the Blue Ridge Parkway for over 30 years, nestled in the charming town of Little Switzerland, North Carolina at Milepost 334. This family-friendly bistro and barbecue restaurant is renowned for its fresh, homemade sandwiches, soups, and quiches that keep locals and tourists coming back year after year. What truly sets Switzerland Cafe apart is their impressive wood-fired smokehouse—one of the largest in the state—where they prepare their signature Applewood Smoked Mountain Trout and Hickory Smoked Pork BBQ, earning them a coveted spot on the North Carolina Barbeque Trail. The restaurant's pulled pork is treated to an 11-spice dry rub and slow-smoked over hickory logs for 12 hours before being simmered in their legendary signature sauce. Favorites include the Smoked Trout BLT, French Dip sandwich, BBQ Sliders, and the generous Barbecue Platter. The on-site General Store operates daily from 10am to 5pm, offering imported wines and beers, fine cheeses, local crafts, picnic supplies, and souvenirs. Visitors can enjoy NC craft brews on tap, including rotating specials, with Guinness always available. Open March through November, Switzerland Cafe also offers catering services throughout Western North Carolina and has earned the 2015 Blue Ridge Parkway Magazine Reader Poll Award for Best Diner. Located at 9440 Hwy 226A, directly across from the Little Switzerland post office.
