Scratch Bakes

Nestled on West Main Street in the historic town of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, Scratch Bakes is a bright, sun‑filled café that blends bakery craftsmanship with a relaxed lunch vibe. From the moment you step inside, the aroma of freshly baked cupcakes, brownies, and moist cake layers greets you, while the display case showcases house‑made caramels, buttery buttercreams and glossy chocolate ganache drizzles. The menu features daily‑rotated cupcakes in flavors like salted caramel, red velvet and classic vanilla, alongside signature brownies studded with chocolate chunks. For a savory bite, guests can choose from gourmet sandwiches stacked with roasted turkey, crisp lettuce and Scratch’s own herb mayo, or a Mediterranean wrap filled with hummus, feta and roasted vegetables. Fresh salads, house‑made soups and seasonal sides round out the lunch offerings, all paired with specialty coffees brewed from locally roasted beans and a rotating selection of latte syrups such as hazelnut, caramel and seasonal pumpkin spice. The café’s interior boasts reclaimed wood tables, pastel‑colored walls adorned with local artwork, and a large window that lets natural light flood the seating area, which comfortably seats up to 50 guests for private events. Opening hours are Monday through Friday 8 AM‑5 PM and Saturday 8 AM‑4 PM, with Sunday closed. Scratch Bakes also provides wedding cupcake towers, catering trays, and party‑rental stands, complete with free delivery within five miles and a transparent pricing structure for larger distances. Whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee, ordering a custom cake for a celebration, or enjoying a leisurely lunch, Scratch Bakes delivers handcrafted quality and a warm community feel.
