About
Rico's Mexican Restaurant is a beloved family-owned establishment nestled in the heart of Stockbridge, Georgia, just south of Atlanta. Since opening its doors on June 6th, 2002, this restaurant has been serving authentic Mexican cuisine that honors a rich family legacy spanning over five decades. The story began in 1971 when Ricardo Olivares, Sr. and his family arrived in the United States from Mexico and opened their first restaurant in Underground Atlanta. After relocating to Stockbridge in 1982, they founded Guadalajara Restaurant, which thrived for twenty years before closing in 2000 due to commercial development. Ricardo's youngest daughter, Chela, then took the brave step of re-establishing the family's culinary tradition with Rico's, named in memory of one of the Olivares sons who served in the United States Navy. Today, Chef Ricky Olivares, one of Ricardo's grandsons, leads the kitchen, crafting dishes that blend authentic family recipes with his own creative flair. The restaurant features a full bar, an elegant banquet room perfect for celebrations, a generous lunch buffet, and comprehensive catering services. Guests can enjoy live entertainment, community events, and frequent specials in a warm, family-friendly atmosphere that makes everyone feel like part of the family. The restaurant's famous salsa has become a local favorite, drawing crowds from across Clayton County and Downtown Atlanta. Whether you're craving traditional favorites or Chef Ricky's unique creations, Rico's offers an unforgettable dining experience that celebrates authentic Mexican flavors with Southern hospitality.
