The Dutchman's Brauhaus

The Dutchman's Brauhaus is a beloved family-owned restaurant in Manahawkin, New Jersey, just minutes from Long Beach Island. Established in 1952 by Otto and Thelka Schmid, this historic establishment has been serving the community for over 70 years under the continued stewardship of the Schmid family. The restaurant features an extensive menu of authentic German fare including signature dishes like bratwurst, Wiener Schnitzel, spaetzle, Bavarian chicken, and London broil, alongside American favorites such as steak, surf and turf, flounder, and fish and chips. Diners can enjoy their meals in the charming upstairs dining room with its custom European-style furnishings, or opt for waterfront dining with direct boat dock access. The outdoor bar, known as The Quelle, offers refreshing drinks and live entertainment during warmer months. The restaurant underwent extensive renovations and reopened in September 2019 with updated facilities while maintaining its classic charm. Private parties and banquets for up to 125 guests are available, making it a popular choice for celebrations. The extensive beer selection features German brews, and the wine list includes selections from the Mosel region.
